Summer's End

This summer has been relatively uneventful for our family. It's been so hot that we've spent a lot of time inside or just in the backyard playing in the water. The few things that we have done, I didn't take my camera so I don't have a lot of pictures of what we've done, but here are a few highlights of the last 2 months or so...

A couple weeks ago my parents and siblings decided to rent a boat for a couple days and go out to Jordanelle River (Park City) to play. Since it was during the week, Adam stayed home to work, but the kids and I decided to join them. It was an adventure to say the least!

Dad and the boys left earlier than Mom and I, so they could get the boat and get it all ready to play. By the time Mom and I were about half way there, the boys called and said that when they got there, they realized that somewhere on the way they had lost the cover for the engine. They weren't sure where it fell off, so they called Highway Patrol, who sid they had found it back in North Salt Lake. So, Steve and Brett left Dad, Roxy and her kids, and went back for it, while Mom and I drove on in hopes that they'd find it in one piece and bring it back so we could play. We got there at about lunch time and right before we got there, the boys called and said they had searched high and low and the cover was now missing from the spot where the HP set it aside. Without the cover, it's unsafe to run the boat, so we turned around and headed home. While Dad returned the boat (the boat place took full responsibility for not securing it in the first place), Brett's wife called her grandpa and asked if we could use his boat at Willard Bay instead so that the day was not a complete waste. He agreed and they boys picked up the boat. Finally around 4:30 in the afternoon, the boat was in the water and ready to take all the kids for a short ride before the "big kids" got to do their boating. So, we all (all but Keli and Mom) piled on to the boat and headed out to the middle of the lake. As we got to about the middle of nothingness, we started smelling smoke. Sure enough, the engine had overheated and was smoking. We turned it off to cool and just sat with the kids on the water drifting back and forth. After it cooled we tried starting it again a couple times and each time it overheated again or wouldn't start. After trying a few times, we had drained the battery and weren't even able to beep the horn! We looked around for someone to tow us in, but there were no other boats around us! We sat on the water for about 2 hours until someone finally came by and was able to tow us in. It was a fun ride for the kids, but kind of put a damper on the rest of the evening! Once we were towed back, we had to figure out how to jump the battery to get the propeller up so we could load and return the boat. It was a long evening and we finally got home around 8:30 that night! Apparently we are not a boating family!

spent the next 2 days hanging out with my mom and dad and Keli just enjoying a few days away from home. We shopped and went to lunch and let the kids play and it was a great little mini-vacation! When I got home and started unloading the car, I walked into the boy's bedroom to find that Adam had done the painting that we've been talking about doing for months and I had kind of decided not to bother with anymore! It looks so much better, and I was super excited!! (The walls were a dark gray/tan before and the room was dark!) I'm still working on decorating, but for now I like it!

Last week, Deegan played his first game of kickball! He had so much fun and it was so cute to watch all the little 3 and 4 yr olds run around and kick the ball. Deegan was so proud when he kicked the ball really hard.

I went in to the Dr. last week to check on the baby and found out that he was in a frank breech (bum down feet and head up) position. We had planned on me being induced on Thursday the 30th, but the dr. said to come in first thing Wednesday the 29th and we'll try to turn him if he hasn't turned on his own by then. So, Wednesday morning we'll see where he's at. If the dr. has to turn him, we'll head to the hospital and I'll be induced following the version (turning). If he's unable to turn him, then we'll have to discuss the options, but it will probably mean a c-section.
We're hoping that we can just get him turned and get him out! We're getting anxious to have this pregnancy done and have him here, however I'm not sure what we were thinking wanting 3 kids!! I think we might be out of our minds having 3 little boys, but it will be fun! Wish us luck!
